Sohan Ramdial, the cattle farmer whose body was found in a shallow grave on Monday morning, was stabbed multiple times, an autopsy yesterday confirmed.
The dead man’s daughter, Padmini Ramdial, told Stabroek News that an autopsy showed yesterday that Sohan died as a result of perforation of the lung and heart due to multiple penetrating wounds.
The autopsy was performed yesterday morning by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh at the Ezekiel Funeral Home.
Meanwhile, when contacted yesterday, Regional Commander Simon McBean told Stabroek News that no arrest has yet been made but the investigation is ongoing.
McBean said that investigators currently have no lead/s.
The body of 67-year-old Ramdial, of Lot 69 Clay Brick Road, Canal Number 2, was found in the abandoned cane fields of the Wales Sugar estate, a distance from where he kept his cows.
Padmini had previously told this newspaper that her father left as per usual on Sunday morning to tend to his cattle but did not return in the night.
She had said that a search was launched to locate him on Monday morning during which the discovery was made.
According to Padmini, her father would take his cattle on a daily basis to a section of the cane field, near where his body was found, about a mile outside of Belle West Housing Scheme. Once he got there, he would milk the cows before letting them loose to graze.
The man would return home at midday for lunch before venturing out again in the afternoon to bring his cows in. However, he did not return home for lunch on Sunday.
Padmini had added that the family wasn’t alarmed when he didn’t show up for lunch or by eight later that night as they believed he was off somewhere drinking. It wasn’t until Monday morning, when her mother told the family that Ramdial did not return home, that they set out to look for him.
He was found at 10.30am Monday.
