“Stay Home! Stay Home!” What Home?
Look friends, very recently I’ve been telling myself – not always convincingly- that the People’s National Congress (PNC) and GECOM’s Secretariat under former Officer Lowenfield, have won! Their political/electoral chicanery and strategic bouts of delaying litigation all have me mentally defeated… Along with the COVID-19 global distraction.
Never-the-less, today I’ll still be pointedly brief as I repeat a personal decision.
As one whose Friday Column warned for months that His Excellency’s PNC planned to triumph at the March 02 Election by any means necessary, I’m now near saturation and satiety by the incumbents’ blitzkrieg of techniques meant to retain and sustain their hold on absolute power.
In cowardly manner, I suppose, I’ll live with His Excellency’s new Government if his expert attorneys, defence forces, colleagues, GECOM surrogates and loyal tribalists manage to arrange his next “decade of development” in office.
But as mentioned earlier, though I’ll try to maintain respect for office and institutions I’ll forever practice social distancing far, far from PNC office-holders. (Even whilst still recognizing a few erstwhile friendships).
Last Friday I represented the views of a PNC “Comrade” who allegedly exposed how the PPP enablers were (also) fraudulent during the March elections. Most of his allegations were reproduced in last Fridays offerings.
In a way that reinforces my own decision to distance myself from all and any who committed electoral thievery last month.
There is an appropriate, even ideal relevant quote available from attorney Jerome Khan, former PNCR Parliamentarian who even campaigned vigorously for them five years ago. His conscience (?) articulated thus: “If your rights are stolen from you, it is tantamount of taking your life away; this is not any social interaction from which something positive can emerge, but equivalent of a bandit robbing you and then [you] have to agree to share with the robber in order to live in peace, with the bandit.”

A modern global plague, Donald and our Volda
Far be it from me to repeat, to lecture, to preach or advise about the pandemic Corona-Virus Disease- 1919 (COVID 19). Try not to be overwhelmed by the justified, expected barrage from international and local health authorities whose heroic efforts mean to rescue the world’s peoples. Rich, developing, poor. Just focus on the practical advice, the recommendations for mental, even economic sustainance.
I now highlight a few “products of the pandemic” in abbreviated form: (a) Is there any reluctance to robustly identify the origin and nature of the virus? (b) The 5-G radiation conspiracy theory is on weak ground; many countries affected don’t yet boast that facility; (c) who will produce the most effective therapy, the eventual cure? As was done for some cancers, TB, HIV, Asthma, and Leprosy? (d) In China the State’s rigid surveillance techniques – facial recognition, specific I.D. Cards, GPS tracking devices, robotic/Cyber scrutiny – actually helps to monitor millions at this time as health security trumps privacy. (Robots are assisting in Indian hospitals.)
(e) Frankly Speaking, to me one devastating characteristic of this plague is the fact that the virus has taken “Religion out of the equation” in that no funerals, no traditional farewell rituals as loved ones living may contract the respiratory devil during collective mourning . Even the Pope’s Easter is now subdued this year. Corona Virus victims die alone! Heart wrenching!
(This is not a “lighter note”, but what did those innocent animals do? Those now infected by civilized humans?)

Their Donald, Our Volda
Somehow, I watch the American White House Coronavirus Task Force briefings every day. I wish President Donald would make very short introductions and leave the medical/technical issues to his capable professionals.
Trump mourns the loss of a lovely thriving economy of just a few weeks ago, due to countrywide lock-downs. And he can’t campaign effectively for November! So frequently he politicises to demonstrate he is still an effective successful (wartime) President.
Back home in His Excellency’s Granger’s Green Land, his warrior PNC Chairperson Minister Volda sees test results first. Because of “confidentiality.” She too reports daily instead of her professionals. Good leadership has to be demonstrated. Trump’s electoral battle is scheduled for November. Volda’s own has been completed (?).

Congrats to His Excellency’s CDC’s officer Kester Craig and the Business Sector for offering relief to vulnerable households.
Because though a home is a residence and should be a “social unit formed by a family living together,” our poor people’s domiciles are no “congenial spaces.” Home is often small, inadequate, cramped with mommy, daddy or no daddy, extended family, children. Home then can allow no healthy social distancing. Discuss…

● 4) If my undocumented/illegal godson working and paying taxes in Florida, USA goes for treatment and relief, will he be posted back to Georgetown? He doesn’t want to spread the virus in Florida.
● 5) The retired PPP exec declared that if he were in governement now, he would “loot just in case!”

Corona! Curfew! The ballot boxes before and after 6 pm.
