No kite flying this Easter

Members of the public yesterday heeded the calls to stay home for Easter to contain the raging COVID-19 pandemic. The seawall and parks which would usually be teeming with kite flyers and families picnicking were deserted yesterday in an unprecedented occurrence.

Among the parks that kept their gates closed were the National Park and Joe Vieira Park. The seawall remained devoid of persons except for police officers stationed at several of the spots where families go for kite flying. A group of boys on bicycles seen making their way to the seawall were promptly turned back by policemen.
