Three men accused of hanging a dog has been granted $15,000 own bail.
Jelani Samuel, Ayinde Worrell, and David Kingston pleaded not guilty during a virtual court hearing in the San Fernando Magistrates Court yesterday.
They were charged with unlawfully killing a dog.
Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith ordered an investigation into the incident after a video went viral on social media of a man hanging a dog from a tree. Griffith said he received numerous messages and calls about the video.
The incident took place on April 6 at Embacadere.
Under the supervision of Snr Supt Wayne Mohammed, head of the Southern Division, the police conducted inquires and arrested the three accused ages 20, 24 and 32 from Embacadere.
When the matter was called in the court around 11 am, the accused, prosecutor Sgt Harold Ishmael, and the charging officer were present.
Magistrate Anslem Leander read the charge via video link to the accused. Samuel and Worrell had criminal records.
They were each granted $15,000 own bail on the condition that they report to the police station every Monday by 9 pm.
The matter was adjourned to May 13.
