Sandra Brescenio, the woman who allegedly stabbed her common-law-husband to death on Sunday during an argument at their home, was yesterday charged with manslaughter and granted $300,000 bail.
In a hearing conducted via Skype, Brescenio, 32, appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 6, where she was charged with the killing.
She was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
The matter was transferred to the Acquero Magistrate’s Court, where it is due to be called on July 7th.
Brescenio’s partner, Clarence Williams, 35, a health worker, was killed on April 12th at Big Cannaballli, North West District.
The police, in a press statement, had said that enquiries disclosed that Williams, who was under the influence of alcohol, threatened to push Brescenio into a fire and an argument ensued.
During the argument, Williams allegedly choked Brescenio, who was at the time cleaning fish with a knife. As a result, Brescenio allegedly stabbed Williams twice in the region of his groin, the statement explained.
Williams was later found motionless on his bed and was taken to the Kumaka District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
