(Jamaica Star) The National Environment Planning Agency (NEPA), has condemned the actions of persons shown in recent videos circulating on social media, taunting crocodiles with dogs, at the Greater Portmore Sewage Ponds in St. Catherine.
In a series of tweets via the agency’s official twitter page, NEPA implored the public to desist from enetering the area.
NEPA also warned, that persons found guilty of baiting crocodiles, can be charged under the Wildlife Protection Act.
According to NEPA, crocodiles typically feed on fish, birds and crab, however, these types of actions are very dangerous as the crocodile will start to associate humans with being fed and condition them to hunt larger prey.
In the meantime, both NEPA, and the police have launched investigations probing the incident.
