(Barbados Nation) Parliament is extending the state of Public Health Emergency until June 30, 2020.

The announcement was made yesterday by Acting Prime Minister Santia Bradshaw while speaking in Parliament.

Bradshaw said Government is acting on the advice of medical practitioners, particularly the Ministry of Health, as they continue to secure the safety of Barbadians.

The acting Prime Minister said the dynamics in relation to the virus have changed over the last few weeks, adding that Government has to res-pond to the medical evidence.

During her presentation she also announced that there was one new case of COVID-19 confirmed yesterday. This would bring the count to 77.

So far six people have died in Barbados as a result of the coronavirus.

Bradshaw thanked all frontline workers for their dedication and efforts in assisting Government to help fight COVID-19.

Government initially declared a Public Health Emergency on March 27 and imposed a 24-hour curfew to limit spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
