Events décor company Innovign Art is offering a virtual paper flower making workshop two Tuesdays teaching fundamental techniques in creating giant paper flowers.

This company has been holding workshops since 2015, offering more than one a month. The last one was held in November, after which there was a hiatus. Owner of the company Travell Blackman said that the previous workshops covered balloon art and flower arrangements, but since this is virtual and the balloon art requires an electric balloon pump, the focus is just paper flowers for now.

Innovign has hosted workshops in Berbice, Bartica, Essequibo Coast and Linden among other areas and thousands have benefited. Many of the participants attended because they might have been having an event and chose to do the décor themselves, rather than pay to get it done. Some persons have also gone on to establish their own décor businesses.

The two-hour workshop costs $4,000 and includes a registration fee, a file with templates on making the flowers as well as the materials required. Travell stated that the workshop would not be like Zoom meetings. Instead a hired videographer will be responsible for the session and will zoom into flower and speaker at the appropriate times. Throughout the session persons will be able to interact with the instructor.

“Persons would have to do some preparation before the actual [workshop] begins. Once they would have registered, I’ll send them a file that would have templates and state what preparations would need to be done. The preparation is what takes up the most time so as to avoid using up the workshop for that. The actual conference of itself is going to be well lit. Registration can be done via PayPal or they can come to our location and register, and I’ll have prints of the file available for them,” he said.

Among Innovign’s reoccurring clients is the Ministry of Social Protection. The company did the décor for the ministry’s staff party and decorated its building for the Republic celebrations in February. Innovign Art was also responsible for the decorations on the High Court during the same period.

The company is hoping to expand and offer additional services in social media and management, and videography and photography but owing to the current coronavirus pandemic, this has been put on hold.

In the run-up to the virtual workshop, Travell intends to do videos to inform persons how to use the Zoom app as well as what to expect from the workshop.
