Church’s Chicken has opened two new drive-thru outlets in Georgetown.
The most recent opening was last Saturday.
Marketing consultant Deslyn Griffith confirmed the opening of the two outlets, which are restricted to drive-thru services due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. “We’ve opened one at the former JR Burgers building on Sandy Babb Street and another at the corners of Aubrey Barker Road and David Rose Street, where Royal Castle used to be,” Griffith told Stabroek News.
While the opening of more locations has been planned for some time, Griffith noted that the current COVID-19 pandemic has seen the need for only drive-thru outlets at this point in time.
Neither of the outlets was constructed with a restaurant as the current national curfew and stay-home measures do not allow for dining in by customers. Both drive-thru outlets are also offering curb-side pickup services, where customers can place their orders in advance and have them delivered to them at the front of the respective locations instead of having to use the drive-thru service. Curb-side pick-up services are available at most of Church’s Chicken locations.
Customers were using the Sandy Babb Street, Kitty location drive-thru and curb-side pickup services when this newspaper visited on Sunday.
The construction of restaurants for the drive-thru outlets is still planned for sometime in the future.
Apart from the city, Church’s has outlets in New Amsterdam, Linden, and Vreed-en-Hoop, among other places. They are open every day from 9am to 5pm.
