With the Covid-19 pandemic continuing to spread locally, the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has opted to postpone its constitutionally mandated Ordinary Congress which was scheduled to be staged before May 31st.
This was disclosed in a release from the federation yesterday. According to the correspondence, the decision to postpone the forum was communicated by the respective member associations on May 5th via General Secretary Ian Alves.
Alves informed the membership that “alternative options / dates will be determined / guided by the dictates of the Government of Guyana (GoG) and the Ministry of Public Health, and will be shared to all of the Members of Congress in due time.”
The Congress is the highest decision-making body of the GFF and it’s where all members regularly convene. Congresses can be held either in the form of Ordinary or Extraordinary. In 2019, the GFF staged a total of three congresses, two of which were Extraordinary.
