Prison authorities this morning reported that a convicted prisoner, Rei Joseph, jumped the fence of the New Amsterdam penitentiary at 6.51 am and was recaptured at 7.10 am.
The Superintendent of Prisons (ag) Udistair Holligan, Officer in Charge of the New Amsterdam Prison reported that during the unlocking of the New Amsterdam Prison, Joseph jumped the prison fence. He was seen by ranks in the towers. An alarm was raised and he was pursued. Joseph is serving a fifteen months sentence for simple larceny. His date of release is December 11, 2020.
