One day after the police issued a wanted bulletin for Donald Sheriff for questioning in relation to the murder of New Amsterdam, Berbice resident Keron Nicholson, he was arrested in Mahdia.
Police spokesman Jairam Ramlakhan yesterday confirmed to Stabroek News that the police, acting on information received, went to Stone Creek Backdam, Mahdia, where they arrested Sheriff yesterday morning.
Arrangements were being made yesterday to have Sheriff escorted to Georgetown.
In a wanted bulletin issued on Friday afternoon, the police had said that Sheriff, 29, whose last known address was given as Patrick Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of Nicholson, which was committed between March 8 and March 17.
This newspaper had reported that Nicholson, 33, succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) on March 18, some 10 days after he was allegedly involved in an altercation with Sheriff.
In a video seen by this newspaper, Nicholson and the accused were arguing after which Nicholson turned to walk away and the accused allegedly dealt him a blow with an object to his head. The suspect then continued to attack Nicholson, who after the first hit fell face down onto the road.
