An Adelphi Village, East Canje, Berbice sugar worker, was injured after a truck he was returning home in toppled along the Tain dam on Thursday afternoon.

The truck was proceeding along the dam, which is located in Tain, Corentyne, with five firemen and a foreman attached to the Guyana Sugar Corporation’s Albion Estate when it toppled into a trench around 4.30 pm.

“Because the rain fall the dam is bare slush,” the worker, who spoke on condition of anonymity, further noted.

All of the occupants were rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital.

However, the Adelphi Village man was transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital while the others were seen and sent away the same evening. He was released on Friday afternoon from the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, sources told this newspaper.

The man reportedly suffered injuries to his head and shoulders.
