Trinidad: Camera captured girl, 15, found after walking away in dead of night

Missing: Anushka Balkissoon

(Trinidad Express) Fifteen year old Anushka Balkissoon was found on Sunday night, and has returned to her family.

Police said she was found in Point Fortin and her father took her to district police station where he informed the officers.

Her father, Dale Balkissoon, said on Monday that he and his search party found her around 7 p.m. in the town centre.

“Yes she is safely back with us. My team and I found her in the town. She was there by herself and apparently she had just reached there. I don’t want to want to say too much more at this point but she is back with us”, Balkissoon told Express.

Security camera footage showed that Anushka was carrying a back pack when she walked out of her family home at Siparia Old Road around 11.30 p.m Saturday.

Balkissoon, who lives a few houses away from where Anuskha lives with her mother, Laura Balkissoon, and older sister at Allum Street, had told Express that the family is distraught over not being able to find his younger daughter.

He had said that his older daughter awoke at around 1 a.m. on Saturday and realised that her sister was not on the bed. Security camera footage showed that around 11.30 p.m. she walked out of the house, and headed down Siparia Old Road.
