As part of what it sees as its corporate responsibility, BOSAI has made a number of contributions to Region Ten to help offset the hardships faced by the community as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a Region Ten Regional Democratic Council (RDC) press release, 100 seniors across Linden received hampers, worth a total of $800,000, and these were delivered directly to their homes. In addition, the RDC and the Mayor and Town Council also received $700,000 in food related items to assist families. This would assist those families who were experiencing “grave” financial difficulties and would benefit from hampers distributed directly from the Mayor and Town Council. A donation of $200,000 was also made to the hot meals feeding programme, which an initiative of the Linden Business Network. This programme is geared towards ensuring that persons are offered a hot meal each day, thus further reducing the pandemic-related challenges.
“We recognize that many persons may not be able to secure a plate of food so we collaborated with the Linden Business Network in ensuring that persons are given a hot meal each day, thus helping to reduce the evident hunger that we have recognized as a result of the COVID pandemic,” Public Relations Officer (PRO) of BOSAI, Vanessa Mitchell-Davis, was quoted as saying in the release.
She added that her General Manager believes that the company will continue to give in many more ways to aid in relieving and reducing the impact of the pandemic and sees their social responsibility as being of paramount importance.
Orrin Gordon, the head of the Regional Health and Emergency Committee (RHEC) of Region Ten, expressed his sincere thanks to BOSAI for what he has dubbed its genuine show of love and support to the people of Region Ten during this very difficult period.
“The contributions made by BOSAI is significant and the RHEC Committee remains thankful for this as it has helped a number of families significantly to secure some food during this very difficult time. Additionally, it has assisted the region in confronting a social ill that is plaguing the region during this time,” he said.
The BOSAI PRO assured the RHEC that should it need additional support and or assistance from BOSAI, it stands ready and prepared to help.
The company has in the past readily provided assistance to the region as the residents and regional authorities battled the COVID-19 pandemic like fellow regions across Guyana, the release added.
