The police are searching for two masked men who held up the NTech Computers and Electronics store, located on Robb Street, Lacytown, Georgetown yesterday.

The armed robbery was committed at approximately 1.30 pm.

According to an eyewitness, who asked not to be named, the two men made their way into the store behind the store owner.

It was stated that the owner went to his store to assist his wife with two barrels. He went up to the door and knocked and when his wife opened the door, the two bandits rushed in behind him and closed the door behind them.

His wife, realising what was happening, escaped through a side door, locking the bandits and her husband inside the store.

The eyewitness said that in a panic, the woman went to her, pleading for her to help. “We getting robbed at gunpoint, you have to help,” the woman recalled her saying.

The eyewitness told this newspaper that she ran to a man selling at the corner and requested his help. She said the man agreed and started banging on the closed door of the business, while the owner’s wife went to get additional help at the Police Consumers Co-operative supermarket nearby.

She said the bandits must have realised that persons outside became aware of what was happening as one bandit came out unarmed, followed by his accomplice, who came out with four stolen cell phones and a gun, which he pointed at the man who was hitting on the door.

This caused everyone nearby to step back, which allowed the bandits the opportunity to make their escape on a motorcycle while firing shots. Attempts were made to follow the men, but they escaped in the vicinity of Bourda Market.

Division 4 (A) Commander Phillip Azore said an investigation has been launched but he could not provide any further details.
