The United Republican Party (URP) yesterday said that its Soldiers of Democracy marched into the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC), Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown yesterday –  Day 28 of the National Recount of ballots – to continue their work.

The URP in a statement said it has independent counting agents on a daily schedule at all twelve of the counting stations currently installed at the ACCC.

A contingent of fifty persons including Manager, Supervisor, Tabulation Agent and Counting Agents was assembled independently by the URP, the statement said.

The party says it is paying keen attention to the anomalies coming out of the recount so far after 1,829 or 78.1% of the 2,339 boxes have been counted.

The leader of the URP Dr. Vishnu Bandhu has maintained that the will of the people must prevail.

“Whichever political party comes out victorious should be allowed to rule, because the electorate has spoken”, the statement said.  Bandhu added that he wished  for the winner to exercise political maturity and to establish a system of shared governance that will be best for the country so that every party will be a part of decision-making and they will be able to work together.
