A La Parfaite Harmonie disc jockey was remanded to prison after being charged with two counts of rape at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court last Friday.

Roger Gibbons, 37, also known as Roger Gibson, of Lot 54 La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, was arraigned before Magistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul on Friday when he was faced with two rape charges.

The first charge against Gibbons states that on April 5th at La Parfaite Harmonie, he engaged in sexual penetration with a woman without her consent. According to information reported to the police, Gibbons had told the woman he would be showing her an apartment to rent but when they entered the house, he locked the door and raped her. The woman also told the police that she had been kept in the building for three days before she made contact with a family member who rescued her.

He was also charged with raping another woman on June 1st. According to the police report, the woman was under the impression that she would be involved in a photoshoot on the day in which she was raped. According to information presented to the court by the police, the woman was given an address where the “shoot” would take place. She reportedly went to the address and was awaiting the arrival of other persons when Gibbons raped her. According to the police, the women lodged a report at a Police Station the following day.

Gibbons was remanded to prison on Friday and the matter was transferred to the Wales Magistrate’s Court, where it will be heard on July 23rd.
