Giftland Mall has started preparations for its reopening after weeks of being closed following the COVID-19 lockdown.
During a visit to the mall yesterday, Stabroek News observed persons unloading boxes that were being taken into the mall and installing wash sinks at the entrances of the complex.
Chief Operations Manager Davindra Deonarine said once the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, the mall will be reopening on Thursday, June 18th. The restrictions are due to expire tomorrow.
He said the initiative was taken to have things in place once they are allowed to reopen.
He also emphasised that protocols to assist in preventing the spread of the virus further would be implemented.
Deonarine explained that persons will be required to wash their hands, have their temperatures checked and utilise the foot markers placed on the floor in order to ensure physical distancing.
He added that concessionaires were informed of the mall’s plans to reopen once given the go ahead and they were advised to also make preparations for the new adjustments.
Adjustments to be made by concessionaires include the placement of foot markers to avoid clustering and overcrowding.
Deonarine added that the mall has taken on the assignment of rearranging the food court to safeguard individuals as everyone is expected to follow the guidelines set out.
