No new COVID-19 case

No new case of the Coronavirus was recorded yesterday even as new tests were done.

The number of positive confirmed COVID-19 cases in Guyana remains at 171 while there are three new recoveries from the virus making it a total of 102 persons to have recovered in the country so far. It was revealed that 11 new tests were done.

According to the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shamdeo Persaud, some 2,006 cases have so far been done in the country. The number of deaths as a result of the virus remains at 12. There are now 57 persons in institutional isolation which accounts for the number of recorded active cases in Guyana while 24 persons are in institutional quarantine.

Dr. Persaud urged persons not to downplay adherence to the emergency health guidelines as a look at the trends seen in countries in the region shows what can happen to Guyana. “If the laissez-faire pattern continues then we are negating the best efforts of our health workers who have been working steadfastly to keep us safe”, the Chief Medical Officer said.
