An 11-month-old child died in Charity last Tuesday after drowning in a bucket of water while her mother was washing.
Region Two Commander Crystal Robinson told Sunday Stabroek that the child’s mother, Vanessa Alexander, told investigators that she left the baby with a three-year-old sibling while she left to go wash. Alexander said that when she returned, she noticed the child in a bucket of water. The child was rushed to a hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
An investigation is ongoing.
