Firemen at the scene of the fire

A family of three was displaced yesterday afternoon after a fire destroyed a Sophia house.

According to Guyana Fire Service (GFS) officials at the scene, the fire started at 3 pm and ripped through the wooden house, located at Lot 197 ‘A’ Field, Sophia, in a matter minutes. The GFS has since launched an investigation into the fire’s origin.

When the fire truck arrived, most of the house had already been destroyed, leaving the homeowner, 51-year-old Suenamay Moseley and her two children in tears.
