A building being used by the Department of Health, Region One at Mabaruma was destroyed by fire this morning, according to Fire Chief Marlon Gentle.
The fire which gutted the wooden building being used by doctors as housing quarters started at around 11 am. According to reports, the doctors were on duty when the fire started.
A video of the building while it was on fire was uploaded to Facebook by Aleandra Adams. The video shows the roof of the building ablaze.
When Gentle was contacted he informed this newspaper that no further information could be relayed at this time.
