Rehanna Rahaman, the teenager who died last month hours after she was allegedly beaten by her boyfriend died as a result of a spontaneous abortion.
Police Commander of Region Two Crystal Robinson confirmed the findings of the autopsy with Stabroek News.
Rahaman, 18, of Karawab village, Pomeroon was one month pregnant at the time of her death.
Stabroek News had reported that the teen, who lived with her grandmother, was involved in a heated argument with her boyfriend. During the arguments, she was allegedly beaten about her body.
Rahaman’s grandmother later called out for her several times but got no answers. As a result, she went to check for her and discovered her lying in an unconscious state.
Rahaman was rushed to the Charity Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
