The Ministry of Public Health has confirmed that Guyana recorded its 17th COVID-19 related death.
The ministry said further details would follow.
When contacted, Ministry spokesman Terrence Esseboom confirmed that the victim is a 69-year-old woman from Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara.
Last Monday, 76-year-old May Portsmith was confirmed as the sixteenth person known to have died from COVID-19 here.
Portsmouth died on Sunday at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) and in a brief statement on the following day, the Ministry said that the woman of Friendship, East Coast Demerara had contracted COVID-19.
