A former policewoman is now awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of dousing her now ex-boyfriend with a corrosive substance.
Cassandra Boucher, 31, of 5 School Street, Albouystown, was found guilty of the crime last Friday by Senior Magistrate Leron Daly.
The charge against her stated that on November 7, 2018, at Camp Street and North Road, Georgetown, she unlawfully and maliciously wounded Anthony Paul with intent to maim, disfigure or cause him grievous bodily harm.
She was remanded to prison until July 16, 2020, pending a probation report.
Boucher previously denied the charge and her attorney, Adrian Thompson, at her first court appearance had told the court that she made several reports of abuse against Paul and the matters were never dealt with.
He further told the court that on the day in question, his client was defending herself from Paul and there is a medical certificate to show that she suffered injuries.
It was reported that on the day in question, at around 10.20 am, Boucher called Paul and requested to be taken to the hospital since she was not feeling well. Paul subsequently picked her up and from the backseat of his vehicle Boucher allegedly took a small bottle and threw the contents at him, as they were travelling to the hospital. The liquid made contact with the left side of his face and other parts of his body and also melted the jersey he was wearing at the time.
Paul immediately drove to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was examined by a doctor and admitted for his injuries. The attack was then reported and Boucher was arrested.
