A man accused of attempted murder was granted $200,000 bail on Tuesday by a Georgetown Magistrate.
Via Zoom, Kevin France, 32, of East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, appeared for the second time before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
The charge against him states that on February 28, 2020, at Lamaha and De Abreu streets, Newtown, Georgetown, France attempted to murder Neil Dutchin.
Police say the victim was with friends at the Blue Martini Night Club when he got into an altercation with France over who initially sat on a stool.
The court was told that France went away before returning with two men, armed with handguns.
The men confronted Dutchin and shot him once in the abdomen and once in his right leg, before they robbed him and escaped.
Dutchin was then picked up in a bloodied state and rushed to a hospital. The attack was reported and an investigation launched, France was later arrested and charged for the attempted murder.
In 2018, France was freed of an attempted murder charge and two counts of armed robbery due to lack of evidence. France was also one of the two men accused of killing Patsan Trading salesman Bharrat Ramcharan during a robbery in 2014 but that charge was dismissed in August of 2015.
