The body fished out of a Strathspey canal on the East Coast of Demerara on Monday has been positively identified as that of Deshawn McLean and a post-mortem examination has confirmed the cause of his death as drowning.
The body, which was fished out of the canal just around 7.30 am on Mon-day, was clad only in a pair of brown pants and a red haversack attached. McLean’s identification card was found to be in his possession.
Regional Commander of Region 4(c) Assistant Commissioner Royston Andries-Junor confirmed to this newspaper that the father of the dead man positively identified him.
