Julian Arthur, who was arrested last week after two weeks on the run, has been charged with the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend, who he allegedly shot in the face.
Arthur was asked to post $100,000 bail after he was charged with attempted murder at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Arthur, 44, who resides at Lot 293 ‘B’ Field Sophia, East Coast Deme-rara, appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh.
He was accused of the attempted murder of Devlin Garraway on July 1st, 2020, at Union, Number 30 Village, West Coast Berbice.
Arthur was not required to enter a plea and was placed on $100,000 bail.
He will return to court on August 14th.
Arthur allegedly visited Garraway, 28, and a fight ensued and he allegedly shot her once to her face then fled her Number 30 Village house. Garraway was later rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital just around 9.30 am on July 1st. She was subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where she was admitted in a serious condition.
Her father, Leon Robertson, of Hopetown Village, West Coast Ber-bice, had said Garraway, a mother of three, sustained a gunshot injury to her face.
The woman has since been discharged from the hospital.
