A twenty-eight-year-old Essequibo Coast motorcyclist who was involved in an accident with a canter succumbed to his injuries yesterday morning, several hours following the crash.
The deceased was identified as Jagdesh Singh also known as ‘Alex’, a carpenter of Lot 102 Pomona Housing Scheme.
According to a police report, the accident was reported to have occurred at 7 am yesterday along the Zorg Public Road.
The report further stated that Singh was proceeding north along the western lane of the road on his motorcycle CE 2037at a fast rate when he swerved into a cow causing the animal to run into the path of the canter bearing registration number GNN 3846 which was travelling in the opposite direction. After hitting the animal, Singh lost control and crashed into the right side of the canter.
Singh was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Suddie Hospital where he was examined by a doctor and admitted to the hospital. He suffered an open left arm fracture. The man succumbed to his injuries at 11.45 am.
The twenty-three-year-old driver of the canter is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
Singh’s body is presently at the Suddie Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem.
