A second person has been arrested by police in connection with the murder of well-known contractor Kissoondatt Premsukh, also known as ‘Dave,’ who was gunned down on D’Urban Street on July 16th.

Regional Commander of Region 4(a) Phillip Azore confirmed to this newspaper yesterday afternoon that a suspect had been taken into custody.

A person was taken into custody early last week in connection with the execution-style killing of the contractor. That person has since been released.

According to a police brief, the victim was at a construction site when an armed male approached him and discharged several rounds in his direction, hitting him five times in various parts of his body. Premsukh was later taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival at about 6.13 pm.

In a telephone interview with this newspaper, Hardat Premsukh, brother of the now dead man, explained that Kissoondatt was owed a lot of money but he was not sure whether that was the motive behind the execution-style killing of his brother. The man added that it was not the first time an attempt had been made on his brother’s life as he was shot at on Father’s Day. “This was the second attempt on his life…the first was on Father’s day [and] he was shot twice…in Coldingen,” Hardat said.

Hardat noted that his brother was never one to have problems with anybody, and was seen as the “backbone” for many members of the family. “He was a nice guy and somebody that was helpful to everybody…he is nuff people backbone…as long as you call on him he would be there. That’s the type of guy he was,” he opined.

Hardat went on to say that his brother was also an extremely hard working man and members of the family would often have to call on him to rest since he seemed to be always working. “He wuk seven days a week, Sunday to Sunday. We does gah call on him to stay home because he loves his work,” Premsukh recalled.
