A twenty-five-year-old man of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown was last night gunned down at the corner of D’Urban and Chapel streets.
The dead man has been identified as Rondel Haynes, a father of one.
The shooting occurred just after 7.30 pm.
Persons residing close to the crime scene told Stabroek News that they heard gunshots ringing out in the area and moments later heard that Haynes, who is popularly known as `3D’ had been killed.
This newspaper learnt that a car pulled up and shots were fired at Haynes. He was shot multiple times about his body. Several spent shells were recovered by the police from the scene.
Stabroek News upon arriving at the scene saw the deceased lying in a pool of blood, covered by a sheet. Paramedics upon arriving on the scene pronounced him dead and his body was later escorted to the Lyken’s Funeral Home.
As news of the killing passed through the ward, hundreds of persons arrived despite COVID-19 regulations.
His sister, upon learning of the tragedy arrived on the scene and wept uncontrollably. The sister said she and her brother did not live together. She said he recently returned from Barbados.
Police investigations are ongoing.
