Two fishing trawlers belonging to Pritipaul Singh Investments Limited yesterday afternoon collided with the Demerara Harbour Bridge (DHB), dislodging two of the bridge’s anchors.
General Manager of the DHB, Rawlston Adams last evening confirmed the incident which occurred sometime between 3.30 pm and 4 pm.
Information reaching Stabroek News revealed that one of the trawlers was towing another. During this process, they reportedly drifted apart causing them to collide with the bridge.
As a result of the collision, Adams said two anchors of the bridge were dislodged. The issue, he said will be fixed today.
“We got them removed. It didn’t affect the traffic. Two anchors got dislodged. That will be fixed tomorrow,” Adams noted.
