Minister of Public Works, Bishop Juan Edghill has instructed the Hinterland Electrification Company Inc (HECI) to take immediate steps to restore power to Matthews Ridge in the north west after he was told by regional officials that the community had had no electricity since March of this year.
A release from the ministry said that Edghill was today visited by Brentnol Ashley, Chairman and Sarah Browne, Vice Chairman of Region One.
During the brief meeting, the release said that Edghill expressed shock at the news that Matthews Ridge has been without electricity since March of 2020. He said that “notwithstanding the issues of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the Ministry of Public Health safety guidelines, this matter should have already been resolved.”
The release said that he has instructed his team at HECI to make contact with the engineers/mechanics on the ground to have the engines up and running immediately as he would like the people to regain their power supply tonight.
