In response to several queries, the media corps and, by extension, the general public, is being advised that the Office of the President will have oversight for the areas of Finance and Natural Resources.
This was stated by the Office of the President this afternoon. The Irfaan Ali administration is still to appoint a finance minister and questions have also been raised as to whether Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat will have responsibility for oil and gas given his inexperience in this area.
The statement by the Office of the President is another strong signal that Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo will have significant responsibilities in these two areas.
