The new Government is aiming to establish a Youth Advisory Committee in the coming weeks with the focus being placed on creating job opportunities.
This disclosure was made on Saturday by President Irfaan Ali, who said that the committee will reflect the country’s “rich, religious and ethnic diversity”.
“I am conscious that while we are building our nation to give a better life to our current generation, we are also laying foundations for future generations. The future is theirs; it is right that, even now, they should help to shape it,” Ali said.
“That is why I have appointed many young persons into my Cabinet. We will chart the future, and they will have a strong hand in the future we chart,” he added at his inauguration ceremony at the National Cultural Centre.
One of the goals of the People’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/C) is not only to create jobs for every Guyanese who is willing to work but also to equip them with the necessary training needed, he said.
Ali promised that his administration will invest in training and re-training the work force so that they can stake their claim in the nation’s prosperity.
He noted that the government will “soon” embark on establishing programmes and projects which will focus on wealth and job creation.
“We will create a single window clearance system to reduce bureaucracy and the cost of doing business. This will make it easier for local and foreign investors to start-up and establish businesses in our economy,” Ali stated.
