The Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) has announced the introduction of its digital internal customer funds transfer as well as the expansion of its online bill payment platform.
In a release, the bank said it has upgraded its system to facilitate the direct transfer of funds from one GBTI customer’s account to another GBTI customer’s account, while also noting an increase in that amount from $100,000 to $500,000.
It said that customers may also make utility payments directly from the platform or request transfers by scheduling fixed payments.
According to the release, the application also provides a messaging platform through which customers can request Electronic Funds Transfer to non-GBTI customers.
Meanwhile, the bank said it has also been expanding its bill payment platform noting the recent addition of two insurance companies—Assuria Guyana, and the Guyana & Trinidad Mutual Fire & Life Insurance Companies (GTM) to its list of mobile and online bill payment platforms.
E-Networks, it said, and Unicomer Guyana (Courts) payments are also possible from either of the digital platforms from the comfort of one’s home, or on the go via mobile phone.
Among other billers, it said, are Guyana Power and Light Inc, Guyana Water Inc, Guyana Revenue Authority, GTT, Digicel Guyana and the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC).
It noted that select payments are also facilitated via the ATMs. However, customers utilizing the ATM for bill payments must first visit the bank to register their billers.
The financial institution shared that not so long ago, it also partnered with Mobile Money Guyana to facilitate customers reloading their Mobile Money Wallets directly from their bank accounts.
The bank in its press release said that since the Covid-19 pandemic, “we have had to adjust the way we do business and we are constantly looking at ways to continue serving our customers in the most efficient, safe and caring way.”
It said that while all of the its locations are open Monday to Friday with Diamond and Parika Branches closing on Wednesdays and opening on Saturdays and Sundays respectively, it still enforces strict social distancing measures and strongly encourages the use of its online services as far as possible.
Other online services, it said, include loan applications, credit card applications and new account openings.
GBTI said it is continuously extending its online banking platform to facilitate easy transactions for customers, while noting that the online sign up process for direct and mobile banking with GBTI is simple and free.
