Well done to President Ali on a cogent inauguration speech. The lacunae have been pointed out by those more qualified than me already.
One first piece of advice which I hope the pop up inquiry on state agencies – the ‘Kit and Chris show’ – will give him is to get the State out of the information game. The DPI is continuing too many of the bad habits of the ancien regime already. Bin it. Re work NCN as a proper commercial broadcaster tout suite.
If the government message is strong enough, it does not need propaganda organs to convey it. slavishly. They are an anachronism in the modern world. The five-month struggle for democracy showed the power of an independent press. Trust them.
