Minister of Education Priya Manickchand today said that schools will not be reopened on September 7th 2020 for the Christmas term as a result of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.
In a broadcast, she said that all schools will remain closed for face-to-face to teaching for the month of September.
She noted that most students have not been academically engaged in a structured way since March.
She advised that by the second week of September options for varied means of teaching could be in place but that a number of factors had to be looked at.
She said that the decision has been taken after engagement with stakeholders.
Manickchand pointed out that she had promised to take decisions in line with science, statistics and best practices.
