United States Ambassador to Guyana, Sarah-Ann Lynch and UK High Commissioner Greg Quinn have tested negative for COVID-19
They undertook the tests after coming into contact with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hugh Todd who has tested positive for COVID-19.
A press release from the US Embassy in Guyana stated that the ambassador and the embassy are committed to observing protocols set out by the Ministry of Health as it relates to the novel coronavirus. That release yesterday morning had said that both the deputy chief of mission and the Ambassador would be quarantined until they were cleared by medical personnel.
However, last evening the embassy through its Facebook page notified the general public that Lynch had tested negative for the virus.
The UK High Commission said in a statement that following the announcement that Todd had tested positive for COVID-19, Quinn and his Deputy, Ray Davidson, self isolated and were tested as they had met the Minister on 10 August.
The results for both the High Commissioner and Deputy High Commissioner were negative, the High Commission said.
“The High Commissioner and his team would like to thank the Ministry of Health and all those involved in the fight against this disease for their hard work, dedication and support. All health workers are to be commended for what they are doing during this pandemic. They are all true heroes and we are grateful for their efforts”, the statement said.
