Gaskin says AFC leaders made serious mistake by not calling out Mingo fraud

As he plans a career outside of politics, former Minister of Business Dominic Gaskin says Alliance for Change (AFC) leaders made a serious misjudgment in not calling out the District Four fraud perpetrated by Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo and he also faulted Guyana Elections Commission Chair Claudette Singh for not acting more decisively in the five-month-long elections crisis.

Believing that the new PPP/C-led government will not fully represent their interests in their longstanding dispute with the Bauxite Company of Guyana Inc (BCGI) over wages and salaries and working conditions, former employees of the Russian-owned firm have ended their protest and removed a barrier placed across the Berbice River.

The Lucas Stock Index (LSI) rose 2.63% during the second period of trading in August 2020. The stocks of four companies were traded, with 91,295 shares changing hands. There were two Climbers and two Tumblers. The stocks of Demerara Bank Limited (DBL) rose 29.81% on the sale of 6,340 shares. The stocks of the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) rose 4.44% on the sale of 1,000 shares. On the other hand, the stocks of the Guyana Bank for Trade & Industry (BTI) declined 4.29% on the sale of 377 shares. The stocks of Banks DIH (DIH) also declined 2.56% on the sale of 83,578 shares. The LSI closed at 633.03.
