The Region Five Regional Democratic Council today reported that the region has recorded its first COVID-19 case.
It is being reported that a female resident has tested positive for COVID-19. Sources in the region said the individual is 66-years-old.
Regional Chairman, Vickchand Ramphal has since issued a statement advising citizens to adhere to the guidelines as advised by the Ministry of Public Health.
Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice) had been the only one of the 10 administrative regions that had not reported a COVID-19 case up to this morning.
