Ajana Wilkinson-Iwayemi, a former teacher and air traffic controller, is among Guyanese who lost their lives to COVID-19 in the diaspora earlier this year.
Wilkinson-Iwayemi, 39, who was the former administrator of financial aid at the American Medical University of Antigua, started showing symptoms of the virus sometime in March. She died at a New York hospital on April 20th.
Dolsy Lewis-Wilkinson, the mother of the deceased, told Stabroek News that it was unclear as to when Wilkinson-Iwayemi might have contracted the virus.
