Region Six yesterday recorded two more positive COVID-19 cases, Regional Chairman David Armogan confirmed.
Armogan said the test results for a minibus driver who was transporting Cuban nationals, who themselves tested positive, have since returned as positive. However, the driver fled over two weeks ago.
He also noted that a doctor tested positive after coming in contact with a patient who had been hospitalised for some time.
Meanwhile, the nine Cubans and two Guyanese that were intercepted at the Berbice Bridge on Friday evening have since been transported to Georgetown where they are being quarantined.
Sunday Stabroek was told that that group of Cubans have all been tested and their results are pending.
Armogan also said that the region’s COVID-19 Task Force is working to expand the quarantine facilities in the region. It is expected that tents will be placed at the Rose Hall Estate Manager’s compound.
