Minister within the Ministry of Public Works Deodat Indar and Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal on Tuesday assured West Bank Demerara residents that their water needs will be addressed in keeping with the principle of equality.
According to a Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) release, the Ministers gave these assurances while visiting Canal #1, West Bank Demerara, to speak with the residents and address their concerns.
Accompanying the Ministers were Regional Chairman, Julius Faerber; Regional Executive Officer (Ag), Sheik Ayube; Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) Chair, Yogieraj Das; Regional Health Officer, Erica Fort; and technical staff from the MoPW and the Ministry of Housing and Water, along with the Guyana Power and Light Inc, among others.
During the meeting, the residents called on the Ministers to supply their village with electricity, better roads and potable water. They also raised the issue of titling of lands which they have occupied for generations.
Croal responded by assuring the residents that in the interest of achieving equality, potable water will be made available to the more than 40 households affected, the release added.
