Dear Editor,
Rummaging through my Letters to the Editor over the years, I came across one from me entitled `Photograph of the year’ some 19 years ago. It depicted two children of different races from the Starters Nursery.
I would label it the photograph of the year. It has several messages for us. I see the innocence of children – love – and an early caring attitude visibly displayed. How many of us have cemented friendship at this level to adulthood? Both my wife and I can confirm to have such friendships to this day.
I have no doubt that there are many other daily scenes which seem to dispel the lie that we live in a race torn society.
Could you witness anything like this in Jerusalem, Palestine, Rwanda or India and Pakistan?
Who knows what years from now these two will turn out to be – let’s hope they will be politicians.
On a closing note and with some pun intended, I suggest a Cricket Match T20 between the two major parties PPP and the APNU with a red ball and the two Umpires’ decision is final, no Speaker. Lawd that would be a sellout.
Yours faithfully,
