Six new Regional Execu-tive Officers (REOs) were appointed yesterday by the Minister of Local Government and Regional Deve-lopment, Nigel Dharamlall.
The appointments were announced in a Department of Public Information (DPI) release yesterday which also stated that the new officials will take up their appointments on Monday August 31.
Teka Bissessar, Former Deputy REO for Region One, was appointed REO by the Minister, for that region.
Devanand Ramdatt, who once held the positions of Assistant Director of Youth and former Regional Chairman of the region was appointed Region Two REO.
Jagnarine Somwar, Justice of the Peace and Commissioner of Oaths to Affidavits is the Region Three REO.
Genevieve Blackman, former Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education (2012 – 2017), Chief Executive Officer for the Board of Industrial Training (2011), and Coordinator for the World Bank-funded HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control project at the Ministry of Labour is the Region Five REO.
Narindra Persaud, educator, former Regional Councillor for Region Four, and Manager of the Materials Management Unit, Ministry of Health, is the Region Six REO.
Karl Singh, former Regional Vice-Chairman for Region Nine is the new REO for Region Nine.
Meanwhile, the REOs for three regions have been retained from the previous APNU+AFC administration.
Pauline Lucas, Kerwin Ward and Mitzy Campbell will be continuing their tenure as REOs for Region Four, Seven and Eight, respectively.
An REO for Region Ten has not yet been appointed, however, this is expected to be done soon, the release added.
