A one-year-old succumbed on Thursday morning, hours after she and her sister were allegedly struck down by a motorcycle at Kariako Village, Barama River, North West District.
Dead is Nesiha Alexander.
She sustained injuries about her body including her head during the accident which occurred around 7.30 pm on Wednesday.
Alexander was taken home and then to the Kumaka District Hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 9 am on Thursday.
Her sister, Charmaine Samuels, 13 was also injured.
The police in a press release issued yesterday said that the motorcyclist is yet to be apprehended.
Investigations, according to the police, revealed that Samuels was standing at the corner of the roadway with Alexander in her hand when the motorcycle, which was proceeding along the said road struck them.
As a result of the impact, Alexander fell onto the roadway and sustained injuries.
The police were up to yesterday making preparations to visit the scene.
