A fire last evening completely destroyed a house in Lancaster Village, Corentyne and quickly spread to a neighbour’s house severely damaging a wall.
According to information gathered, as of 8.30 pm, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire but remained on the scene working.
Residents in the area said that they first saw smoke emanating from the first house just before 7 pm, after which an alarm was raised and the fire service was contacted.
However, before the fire service could arrive the house was already engulfed in flames and was spreading to the second house.
An investigation has been launched in order to determine the cause of the fire.
