I’ve always enjoyed the sweet taste of fruits but lately I have been consuming them more than ever. The temperatures have been steaming and lucky for me, fruit is a low-calorie option to satisfy my cravings. Consuming fruit is a great way to load up on vitamins and minerals. The water content of most fruits exceeds 80 percent, so it’s also a delicious and healthy way to stay hydrated.
I encourage you to consume delicious and nutritious fruits to keep your body healthy, fit, and hydrated. Today, I’m focusing on two of my favourites – pineapple and watermelon. If you’re not already fond of eating these two fruits, I hope that you soon will be.
Pineapple
In some cultures, the pineapple is a symbol of hospitality, so why not welcome pineapple onto your plate? With its tropical tastiness and versatility, pineapple is a guaranteed favourite.
In addition to its versatility, the pineapple is a nutrition powerhouse with more vitamin C per serving than an orange. Pineapples are also an amazing source of manganese, an important micronutrient for immune health, as well as the B vitamin thiamin, to help give you the energy you need to enjoy some fun in the sun.
Whether you use it as a pizza topping or add it to your protein smoothies, pineapple is a sure-fire way to include sweetness in your diet. And, with less than 100 calories per cup, this fruit can be indulged in without breaking the calorie bank.
Watermelon
Watermelon consists of more than 90 percent water, making it a delicious choice to beat the heat and stay hydrated.
But did you know watermelon may also help your workout performance? Watermelon contains an amino acid known as citrulline which can improve blood flow and decrease muscular fatigue and soreness.
If you’re looking for a new take on this fruity classic, try adding diced watermelon to a fruit bowl. Include it with your chunks of mango, papaya, pineapple, and oranges or whatever fruits take your fancy, your muscles and taste buds will thank you.
This steamy period is the perfect time to enjoy the benefits of fresh, delicious fruits. A diet that includes fruit can assist you with reaching your weight-management, fitness, and performance goals. So, load up your plate, fill up your cooler, or replace your pre-workout snack with one or both of these mouth-watering fruits.
